Watercolor Demo January 13, 2010

Ann Arensmeyer is a representational painter in watercolor and oil primarily, though she dabbles in pastel, stained glass, clay and is an avid quilter. She enjoys illustrating, hopefully for a children’s picture book she has begun.
Basically self-taught in oil, when she began the watercolor media she was able to enjoy workshops with Joe Bohler, George Shook, Jean Halverson, Tony Couch, Zoltan Szabo, Better Carr and New Mexico Art Institute art instructors.
Her favorite painting approach is to use clear, vibrant color, creating loose and thought-provoking backgrounds while directing most detail to the center of interest. Her goal is to have the painting be eye-catching from across the room yet draw the viewer to look closer and closer to discover all the subtle areas of background as well.
Teaching has been an important part of her art work because it pushes her to paint regularly, creating class demos and presenting new subjects, styles, techniques and materials for weekly classes.
Ann participates in several juried shows and art auctions annually. Her past gallery activities have included Tlaquepaque Square in Sedona, AZ, Fine Things at River Pointe in Los Lunas, NM, Anastasia Gallery, Amapola Gallery and Weems Gallery in Albuquerque, NM, Canyon Spirits Arts and Crafts in Estes Park, CO and the Casino Art Gallery on Catalina Island, as well as a number of Montana galleries. She is currently represented by Lincoln Gallery in Loveland, CO.
Having recently moved to Colorado she is enjoying her home studio, Colorado’s friendly people, and the abundance of art activity and opportunity for exposure.
