Becky Everitt went to Spain in May for a 7-day pastel workshop. Her paintings of Spain will be at the Great Frame Up from July 8th through August 7th. She also finished some watercolors at home from photos. She reports that of all the places she has traveled to, Spain was definitely the most enjoyable. She was also in Chama, NM for a week while Chuck was finishing up work on restoring an old caboose for the Cumbres-Toltec Historic Railroad. She did some oil painting there and finished 2 paintings of the train. Becky will be showing work at Barnes & Noble in Loveland during August, and has 2 paintings in the Lincoln Gallery Show in Loveland. She also has an ad in the June issue of the Art Collector’s Magazine with a pastel painting of Longs Peak.
Judy Sprague was awarded 3rd Place in Mixed Media at Thompson Valley Art League’s Summer Show, juried by Robert Spooner. Her summer is busy as she was recently “Featured Artist” at Rijks Gallery in Crested Butte Colorado plus she will be exhibiting in Longmont at “Rhythm on the River’s” Art Zone July 10.
Margaret Bobb participated in the Lyons Studio Tour on June 5 and 6 as part of a group that showed at Ciatano Winery, and the next week week she was in the BAA/LAG member’s show at the Fairgrounds. She has started painting plein air with the Plein Air Painters of Estes Park facilitated by Margaret Jensen, and she continues to go out some with the Boulder group facilitated by Nyla Witmore. She reports that both are wonderful groups, and she has learned a lot during the critique sessions. Both groups are free, and she would highly recommend either one to anyone interested in painting plein air. On July 10, she will be sharing a space in the Art Zone with several other artists at Rhythm on the River.
Diane Wood currently has artwork at the Millineum in Boulder. A reception will be held on July 29 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Food is excellent, please drop by and say hello. She also currently have 12 paintings at the Sun Roses Cafe on Main St. in Longmont. She has a painting that was juried in to the Gilpin Art Gallery across from the Teller House in Central City, and she has 22 paintings at the Longmont United Hospital Artwalk through July 14. She has paintings at North Boulder Rec for the month of July in the Gymnastics Hallway. Diane will be at Simply Bulk 418 Main St., Longmont for the July 16 Art Link; she ill have paintings at Cafe Luna for the month of August; and she will be at Rhythm on the River July 10th in the Art Zone tent. Diane will hold a workshop at the Longmont Senior Center July 19 at 9 am. This workshop is thru the Outreach Program of Longmont Studio Tour and is free to the community. All materials supplied. Sally Fulton has been painting up in Evergreen with Don Sahli, learning new ways to paint. In September when she will be in Richard Schmid’s live auction up Rist Canyon on Labor Day and the Longmont Open Studios Tour Sept. 25-26. She is still teaching two classes through the summer on Wednesdays 2-5:00 and Thursdays 11-2:00 in her home studio and will take anyone who wants to give it a try. She is also teaching a free pastel class (landscape) for beginners at the Longmont Museum September 18th 10:00-1:00. Donna Flebbe has been painting with Molly Davis in Boulder. She teaches a year long watercolor class on Fridays. She says that her joy has been painting with good friends and doing plein air. They have been up in the mountains and at several parks in the area. She is anxiously awaiting for her acceptance letter from the National Fine Art Show in Louisville. Donna says that being part owner of pARTiculars Lafayette Art Market has been very satifying for her. A perfect use of her time in retiremenet. Her work has been well received by customers and several pieces have sold. She teaches classes in pastel collage and children’s classes in their new classroom as well. Her plans are to continue teaching at her studio and at pARTiculars and of course “Keep On Painting”.
Hersch Pilloff took a Bush Pilot Photo Trip to Homer, Alaska. He reports that it was a terrific trip and a great photo experience; and now the really hard work begins as the 275 photos need to be edited down to 25 or 30 of the best and most interesting shots. These extensive shots have the potential to be very special as thy reflect the special grandeur of the glaciers and the potential threat of global warming.
Brice Harbert has 7 black and white photographic prints in an exhibit titled “A Grand Affair” at the Ciao Gallery, 66 S. Glenwood, Jackson, Wyoming. The exhibit runs from June 17 through July 15. He has also been accepted as a regular exhibitor in the Ciao Gallery after the current exhibit ends.

Heather Coen has a painting “Lake Helene” which was juried into the Plein Air Artists of Colorado (PAAC) National show at Sak’s Gallery in Cherry Creek. The show closes next Saturday. The July issue of “American Art Collector” has her as a featured artist on page 182. The article called “Nature’s Allure” stemmed from the editor picking her work from the previous month’s issue when she was interviewed for the PAAC show mentioned above. She also had an opening at the Ciao Gallery in Jackson Hole, Wyoming on June 17th, 2010. That show runs through July 10th. She was selected for the Wyoming Plein Air Event begining August 1st in Cheyenne, WY. The artists have 15 days to create paintings anywhere in Wyoming as long as they are done in the plein air tradition. The show is hosted by Southwest Art and the Deselms and Link Gallery in Cheyenne.

Lori Kutz, David Daignault and Lynn Daignault have their art work hanging in the Gilpin Art Associations Annual Show at the Gilpin Art Gallery in Central City. The show will be open until August 14th. David received an honorable mention for one of his photos. The gallery is on Eureka Street right across the street from the Old Opera House.

We hope to be totally inspired and return home with many great ideas and beginnings of new works.
Marcy Van Peursem has been back at painting classes with Dorothy Pecina. Also am planning on entering 2 paintings at the Lafayette Sr. Services Art Show starting August 2nd thru 19th. The Art will also be shown on Aug. 20th at Festival Plaza for “Art Night Out” 6 - 9:30 p.m. There will be a Reception Friday Aug. 20th at 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. during the Art Show 309 S Public Rd.
Barbara Ekx says, “I felt honored to take a 1st First and a Best of Show for the St Stephens show . Then I received the Judges Award as well as a 1st place for the BAA / LAG Show. I fell and broke my left elbow...so haven’t done much painting.” It’s our loss!

Heather Coen submitted five paintings into the Richeson 75 and got all five in, three into the publication and two into the show: "Hollyhock" (oil) and "The Green Vase" (oil) will be shown from June 30th to August 23rd at the Richeson art Gallery in Kimberly, Wisconsin. Her painting, "Lake Helene" a large pastel, was accepted into the prestigious Plein Air Artists Colorado show at Sak's Gallery running June 25th through July 10th in downtown Cherry Creek. And "Isn't It Grand" a pastel of the Grand Tetons, was accepted into the Art Association Northern Colorado show running now at the Lincoln Center in Ft. Collins.
Diane Wood demonstrated pastel paintings at the St. Stephens Art Show on Saturday, April 24 at 1:30 pm. She held a workshop at the YMCA in Longmont April 20 for children from kindergarten age to 5th graders, and she has an original art work at the Old Firehouse Art Center for mid April to mid May. The exhibit is entitled "Confetti".

Judy Sprague was awarded First Place-Pastel at Greeley Art Association’s “Art From the Heart” juried show held Feb 5 at Greeley’s Showcase Art Center. Judy was also awarded both First Place-Pastel and First Place-Mixed Media Awards at Thompson Valley Art league’s juried “SweetArt” Show held at Loveland’s Lincoln Gallery Feb. 12 and her art has been juried into Cheyenne’s National “Western Spirit” show-opening reception will be March 6 at the Old West Museum in Cheyenne Wyoming.

Colleen Hoerner was awarded a Gallery Choice award for her pastel painting, Sticks And Stones May Break My Bones, at the Richeson 75 International Pastel Competition in Kimberley, WI. Her pastel painting, Tale of 2 Tomatoes, was chosen for the back cover of the competition catalog. She also has 3 pastels + 1 minature that were accepted into the Western Spirit Art Show in Cheyenne to be held March 6 - April 18 at the Old West Museum.
Maya Heneghan has 8 art books in the show at Barbed Wire Books, 504 Main St until Feb 7th. She has her collages published in the 2009 and 2010 Daily Guide to the Mayan Sacred Calendar.

Kathleen Reilly showed a painting in the Artists of Colorado 14th annual exhibit in November in Denver, and also had a painting accepted into the Mountain Oyster Club annual show in Tucson. She currently has another painting in the December show at the Bella Rosa Club in Frederick and will be featured in the BCAA art on the walls exhibit in January through March at the Stone Cup in Lyons, with pieces from her “Sharp Things” series.

Diane Wood will also present a 1 hr lecture on her trip to China, Thursday, February 4th at 3:00 pm at AIMS Community College, Main Campus in Greeley in the Ed Beatty Student Gallery. The reception will be on the same day from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. And paintings from that trip will be on display for the month of February.

I had two paintings, “Morphing Structures” and “Roads Less Traveled”, in the Colorado Watercolor Show New Trends at Co-Art Gallery on Santa Fe Drive from September 14th -27; and two paintings in the Mountainside Guilds Annual Miniature Show at the Foothills Gallery in Golden from August 27th -October 26th. I will be jurying for the upcoming Aurora Gateway to the Rockies Show.
