Call for Submissions: Poster Designs for the 2024 Rhythm at Roosevelt Event

Are you an artist with a passion for music and visual storytelling? We invite you to submit an original poster design promoting the 2024 Rhythm at Roosevelt Shades of Sound event.

About the Event

Event Name: Rhythm at Roosevelt

2024 Event Theme: Shades of Sound

Rhythm at Roosevelt is an annual celebration of music, art, and community, held at the scenic Roosevelt Park in Longmont, CO. This year, we are exploring the vibrant convergence of visual art and music through the theme Shades of Sound. The event, and your poster, will capture the essence of how music can paint our Colorado lives in a myriad of hues and emotions.

Submission Guidelines

Required: Both the event name and theme: Rhythm at Roosevelt and Shades of Sound must be featured in text in the artwork.

Optional: The following event details can also be included in the artwork: Saturday, September 21, 2 –10 pm, Roosevelt Park

Medium: Original artwork can be created with any traditional or digital medium(s) and submitted via a high-resolution digital capture.

Size: Artwork will be presented vertically at 13” x 14”. Final poster size will be 13” x 17” with the additional 3” used for a color block along the bottom of the poster featuring event details, artist credit, and sponsorship recognition. The additional design work to add the event details and the printing will be managed by the City of Longmont.

Format: Submit your design as a high-resolution PNG file (300 dpi).

Originality: All submissions must be original works created and signed by the artist.

Content: Designs should be suitable for all audiences, reflect the Shades of Sound theme, and not contain any material that is not suitable for children.

Submission Process

Deadline: All submissions must be received by 11:59 pm on Sunday, August 4.

How to Submit: Attach your design file to an email to hello@longmontcreates.org with the subject line “Rhythm at Roosevelt Poster Submission – [Your Name]”.

Medium used

A brief description of your design and how it relates to the theme Shades of Sound

Selection Process

Review: A panel of local judges representing local art organizations and the City of Longmont will review all submissions and select the one winner.

Eligibility: This contest is open to artists of all ages. Each artist may submit up to three separate entries. Staff members who are associated with any organizations participating in Longmont Art Week and Rhythm at Roosevelt are ineligible to participate in this contest.

Selection: The selected design will be announced on August 7 and will be used in promotional materials (in print and online) for the 2024 Rhythm at Roosevelt event.

Prize and recognition: The winning artist will receive $400 Longmont Recreation Services, will be named in a press release and social media posts announcing the poster contest winner, and will be given credit on the poster and in related promotional materials.
